The Military Teen Manga Girls und Panzer Launched

A new television anime series titled Girls und Panzer (Girls & Tanks) was revealed last month. It’s slated to premiere this fall. As director Tsutomu Mizushima (Squid Girl, Another, Blood-C, xxxHOLiC) said, it’s his first entirely original work (as opposed to an anime based on a previous manga or novel). Takaaki Suzuki, a military history advisor on Strike Witches series and Upotte!!, is also working on it.

The manga version of Girls und Panzer has started serialization in the July issue of Media Factory’s Comic Flapper magazine on June 5. It’s illustrated by Ryuichi Saitaniya.

Girls und Panzer is about “high school girls x battles in tanks”. The story centers around high school girls who drive tanks that exist in real life, as they compete in teams.
