Mobile Suit Gundam: Tekketsu no Orphans Visuals, Staff & Release Date Revealed

Sunrise released details of the new Gundam series, titled Mobile Suit Gundam: Tekketsu no Orphans (Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans) in a livestreamed event.

 

 

The show is set 300 years after a great conflict between Earth and Mars known as the “Calamity War.” A woman named Cordelia sets out on a journey to Earth to speak for the independence of the Martian city of Chryse, which is under the control of the Earth government. Escorting her is the private security company CGS, which protagonists Mikazuki Augus and Orga Itsuka are members of. When a group named Gjallarhorn attacks CGS and Cordelia, Orga sees this as a chance to rebel against CGS and launch a coup. Mikazuki and Orga are thrust into a new conflict. To fend off Gjallarhorn, Mikazuki rides an old mobile suit from the Calamity War, powered by a nuclear reactor, the Gundam Barbatos.

 

The Barbatos is described as a mobile suit that steals weapons, armor, and parts from enemies to become stronger.

 

The official Gundam YouTube channel also updated a promotional video for the show.

 

The official website also posted new visuals for protagonists Mikazuki Augus, Orga Itsuka and the other characters with mobile suits.

 

 

 

Tatsuyuki Nagai is directing the show with Mari Okada handling series composition. Nagai and Okada have worked together earlier on the Toradora! and anohana TV anime series, the anohana film, and the upcoming The Anthem of the Heart anime film. Yu Ito is in charge of drawing the original character designs, while the characters for animation were designed by Michinori Chiba. Naohiro Washio, Kanetake Ebikawa, Ippei Gyōbu, Kenji Teraoka, and Tamotsu Shinohara are responsible to design the mechas. Kusanagi drew art design, and Masaru Yokoyama composed music.

 

The show will air on October 4 in Japan’s 28 channels. It will also be streamed online. The official website will release more details later.
