The fifth volume of Kore Yamazaki's manga Mahou Tsukai no Yome announced that the manga gets a three-part prequel anime by Wit Studio. It also notes that anime tells a story before Chise meets the Magus.

The cast includes:

Atsumi Tanezaki as Chise Hattori
Ryota Takeuchi as Elias
Kouki Uchiyama as Ruth
Aya Endo as Silver

Yamazaki is in charge of the original story of anime. Norihiro Naganuma is the anime director at Wit Studio and Aya Takaha is the scripter. Hirotaka Katō is anime characters designer. Bamboo is responsible for background art.

The three volumes of the anime will be bond with the sixth, seventh and eighth volumes of the manga. The first part limited two-week run in Japan from August 13. A promotional video for the anime will be released on YouTube on Thursday.

The story follows Chise, a girl who is purchased by the boneheaded Elias Ainsworth. He promises to take her on as his apprentice. Elias is a mage, and his world is one of dragons and faeries. Apparently Chise isn't just intended to be his apprentice - she will also be his bride.

Yamazaki began publishing the series in Mag Garden's Monthly Comic Blade magazine in 2013. The magazine ceased publication on September 1, 2014 and the series was moved to the new Monthly Comic Garden magazine, while also continuing to be released on the Monthly Comic Blade website.
