A live-action movie adaptation of horror manga Zekkyou Gakkyuu has been announced in the March issue of Shueisha’s Ribon magazine last month. Recently the first trailer for the upcoming movie was posted on the official website. You can also click here to watch the video.

The trailer features the “Don’t Cry” song by Shiori Niiyama, which will serve as the movie’s theme song. The movie will be directed by Sato Tetsuya, and other cast members include Hirose Alice, Matsuoka Mayu, Haru, Yamamoto Mizuki. Miura Uiko will be in charge of its scenario while Ashizawa Akiko will be the director of photography. The movie is scheduled to arrive in Japanese theaters on June 14th.

Zekkyou Gakkyuu is written and illustrated by Emi Ishikawa. It began serialization in Ribon magazine in 2008. The story starts when a high school girl Kana happens to gain interest in the urban legend that has been handed down in the school and leads Kana to get involved in a tragedy. The manga is a collection of stories rather than one serialized story. The live-action adaptation will mainly consist of the stories “Yomi no Shinjitsu” (from the 3rd volume) and “Ningen Rank” (from the 8th volume).
