Kindaichi Shounen no Jikenbo 20th Anniversary OAD Series Announced

It has been officially announced that a two-episode OAD series of Kindaichi Shounen no Jikenbo, covering the "Black Magic Murder Case" arc (File 31) from the NEW Series, will be released. The OAD series, commemorating the 20th anniversary of Kindaichi Shounen no Jikenbo manga series, will be bundled in the 3rd and 4th limited edition volumes of anniversary reprint series. The 3rd volume will be available on December 17, 2012 and the 4th March 15, 2013.  

Kindaichi Shounen no Jikenbo (Kindaichi Case Files), written by Yozaburo Kanari or Seimaru Amagi (depending on series) and illustrated by Fumiya Sato, started serialization in Weekly Shounen magazine in 1992. The new Kindaichi series started serialization in 2004 in the same magazine. This year marks the 20th year of the manga's serialization. In Japan, there is a total of 59 volumes, which have sold over 60 million copies, making it one of the best selling manga of the 1990s and one of most successful works in the mystery manga genre. The manga has been adapted into light novels, anime series, video games, CD books, live action films and live action series.  

The Black Magic of the NEW Series was released in 2008. Toei Animation will be responsible for the animation production.
